Two concerts yesterday to a total of over 1,800 students. An amazing response. Our rationed box of 25 cd's per concert went in two minutes flat, the way forward is to play live and sell rather than rely on the record companies royalty payments...always late, and can never be checked. Today marks the last concert for the quintet in what has been an energy draining but highly rewarding tour.

Great news for the Delta Sax Quartet and its growing Austrian fan base. Following on from the quartet's concert in St. Poelten in June 2002 the quartet will return with Christian Forshaw now leading on soprano, for a workshop & concert on February 15th 2003. Programme details etc. to be posted in November 2002.

Just a reminder that next week the Delta Sax quartet will be performing along with the Trevor Taylor group @ The Cliff's pavilion, Southend on 31st October (broomsticks at the ready) followed by its much in demand workshop/concert double act at The Lemon tree, Aberdeen on 2nd November.

For Philip Glass/Fitkin fans, catch the DSQ @ Blackheath concert halls on Sunday 10th November, again linked to the education workshop performance.

Back with you soon. Best wishes
Chris

Life in the fast lane....that's the tour for Quintessence so far. Performing in community arts centers, schools, and universities from all points of the compass on this extraordinary island. The audience responses have been amazing, music really does cross all barriers of language and culture. The warmth of the Taiwanese people is ever present, yesterday (Sunday) was a day off so the quintet enjoyed the warmth of the sea as well, in the tropical south of Taiwan diving in the coral waters off Kenting. Taiwan isn't just neon lights and freeways. The Pacific east coast south of I-Lan to Hualien was also a train ride to savour.

The final rest day now in Kaohsiung (30 Cellsius) outside- long live air-con! The Quintet have a workshop and Concert in KYS University tomorrow followed by double concert days on Wednesday and Thursday, pack friday and return with an excess baggage of experiences to the UK on Saturday. My case will be lighter due to the fact of selling 197 CD's to date, signing sessions like a pop group are the rage here for the post concert half hour, the drinks have just had to be put on ice for a little longer!

Brilliant experience. Check out Taiwan for that holiday of a lifetime, back to blogger soon. Chris
