It's been a while since I last posted a Blogg. It's really been a case of no news is good news, as I've been using what seems to be a 25 hour clock and that includes losing an hour for what is now Summer time!
The Delta sax quartet has just recorded a special CD entitled 'Formosa' (The old name for Taiwan) which has been produced to mark its second tour of the Islan this April/May, The CD features works by Karl Jenkins, Philip Glass, Michael Torke and arrangements of Bulgarian traditional songs by Gareth Brady. There's a chance that it might go on general release with FMR records in the Autumn so watch this space.
The quartet recently completed a visit to Nottingham, linked in with their educational work. The concert was brilliantly received with probably the quartet's best performance (7th in two years) of Louis Andriessen's 'Facing Death'. Christian Forshaw was brilliant on the soprano - this was his first chance to perform this work with the DSQ since joining them in September 2002.
This week sees the DSQ presenting a late evenings soiree in Bristol with the emphasis on the Spirit of the Soft machine. Check out the link from the dates page.
Back soon, cheers.Chris
